The role will involve:

  • Acquiring the necessary technical and practical maintenance skills through a combination of classroom study and on the job learning, to maintain, repair and install, industrial machinery and equipment
  • Completing the required academic and practical training requirements of the Mechatronics Apprenticeship
  • Gaining hands on experience by assisting the Maintenance Team with routine tasks connected with the upkeep and maintenance of site equipment.
  • Performing preventative maintenance of mechanical tools and equipment as directed or specified in the operations manual and returning damaged tools and equipment for repair or replacement
  • Providing hands on technical assistance, aiding assembly, installations, repairs and equipment commissioning, whilst honing your fault-finding programming and diagnostic abilities
  • Dealing with basic machine breakdowns and making repairs to ensure minimum downtime
  • Trouble shooting and identifying faults/defects on machines and carry out repairs as necessary
  • Carrying out small amounts of fabrication as and when needed
  • Updating and maintaining accurate information on the Company maintenance system
  • Gaining knowledge and understanding of other aspects of the Company's operations by participating in company assigned training/projects as and when required
  • Ensuring work is carried out to the highest standard and in the best interests of the Company
  • Observing and complying with safe working practices and perform general housekeeping duties to keep tools tidy and safe
  • Contributing to the overall success of the Maintenance Department by performing other essential duties and responsibilities as assigned
  • Adhering to all Company policies and procedures
  • Any other general duties as deemed appropriate by the Maintenance Manager

Entry Requirements

We are seeking applications from candidates who have or are predicted to gain 5 x GCSEs (or equivalent). Grades must be A*-C / 9-5 for Maths English, Science and two other subjects.

Training to be Provided

  • Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence)
  • BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)
  • Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence)

Things to Consider

As you progress, you’ll join a 4 on/4 off shift team to gain full maintenance experience. This hands-on role involves hot, humid and dusty conditions, and industrial magnets, so safety and PPE are essential. Full training is provided. Please inform us of any medical implants.

Future prospects

We’re committed to developing talent for the long term. While we can’t make a formal commitment at this stage, our strong intention is to offer a permanent Maintenance Engineer position to apprentices who successfully complete the programme and demonstrate the right skills, attitude and progression.
